Srilor is a Sri Lanka companion app for iPhone and Android, plus this website. It helps you plan the island, find your way around it and understand what you are looking at when you get there.

What is Srilor?

Srilor is a travel companion for Sri Lanka: an app for iPhone and Android, and this website. It covers places across the island, from Sigiriya and the Temple of the Tooth to small temples, quiet beaches and viewpoints you may not have heard of.

Each place has the practical details you need on the day: how to get there, the best time to go, entry fees where we know them, and how to visit respectfully. Where something changes often, we tell you to check before you go.

What can I do with the Srilor app?

Planning is free for everyone. The Island Pass, one payment with nothing monthly, opens every audio story in full and keeps places offline with their stories.

  • Fill in your ticket, and Plan my trip drafts your towns to sleep in, the nights in each and the places near every one
  • See honest drive times between towns, with fair estimates for trains, buses and tuk-tuks
  • Get a word for every day, from Easy day to Too much for one day, with a fix when a day asks too much
  • Book your stays where you like and add each booking reference to its night
  • Listen to audio stories told in chapters, in several languages; the first chapter of every story is free
  • Collect a Passport stamp when you stand at a place
  • Keep emergency numbers and practical advice to hand in the Guide, which works offline

How are places on Srilor checked?

Local editors check every place: how you get there, what you pay, when to go and what to wear. Each place page shows the date its facts were last verified.

Fees, timetables and opening hours in Sri Lanka change, sometimes without notice. So we also tell you what to check before you go, and our editorial policy explains the whole process.

Why does Srilor exist?

Good information about Sri Lanka is spread across guidebooks, forums and social posts, and it is hard to tell what is still true. Srilor puts checked, practical facts in one place, in plain language, with the Guide on your phone for the days without signal.

We also want you to understand what you are looking at. That is what the audio stories are for: a story at the place, told in chapters, so a ruin or a shrine means more than a photo.

How do I get in touch with Srilor?

Email hello@srilor.com about corrections, partnerships, press or help with the app. If a place has changed since we last checked it, we especially want to hear from you.
