Colombo & West Coast: questions people ask

Should I stay in Colombo or Negombo on my first night?

Negombo is about twenty minutes from the airport and quieter, so it suits a late arrival. Colombo is further, but better if you want a day of city sights and food.

How do I get from the airport to Colombo?

The Airport Express bus is cheap and runs often. A pre-booked taxi or PickMe to Colombo costs about LKR 5,000 to 7,000.

When is the best beach weather on the west coast?

December to April. From May to September the south-west monsoon brings rain most afternoons and rough sea.
